Emma Austin wins big in Russia

9 August 2019

The race I have been working towards since October 2018. The sprint distance European Championships 2019 in Kazan, Russia.

I competed in this event less than 2 weeks ago where I raced in the GBR Under 20s age group team. I was focused from the very start of the race, this was the biggest race of my season, biggest race of my life in fact. I remained focused throughout the whole raced. An 11 minute 750m swim, 34 minute 20km bike and 22 minute 5km lead me to bringing home with a 2019 Under 20s European Champion title and a shiny gold medal. If that wasn’t a a big enough shock for me, to my amazement after looking at the results, I was a massive 4 minutes ahead of second place. The best race of my life so far! – Emma Austin.
